POLARITY THERAPY

"a massage for your soul..."

What is Polarity Therapy?

Polarity Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork and energetic healing that clears and balances the mind, body and spirit. Polarity therapy  is based in Ayurvedic medicine and uses the "five-element theory" - the idea that everything inside and outside of us is composed of five elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether (or space), and that each element corresponds to a part of the body, our physical, mental, emotional and psychic state and has specific properties and colors.

Polarity Therapy was developed by Randolph Stone, a chiropractor, naturopath, homeopath and deeply spiritual man, who traveled widely and incorporated many aspects of eastern medicine and philosophy. This modality thus includes elements of massage, reflexology, cranial sacral therapy, meridian clearing, lymph work, and light chiropractic stretches.

How Does Polarity Therapy Work?

Polarity therapy is based on the notion that we all have negative and positive energies in our bodies (not good or bad but opposing energies). When these energies are connected and balanced, we feel healthy and vibrant. Stress, pain, and illness are forms of blocked energy. Through specific types of bodywork and use of inner vision and intention, polarity therapy can clear blocks in the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual systems, improve the flow of energy through the body and create an overall sense of health and well-being.

What Are the Benefits of Polarity?

At the end of a session, you will feel relaxed and have an overall sense of peace and well-being.  The flow of energy through your body will be increased and strengthened.  You will feel great!

Other benefits can include:

  • Stress reduction

  • Relief from pain

  • An ability to deal better with challenging situations

  • Inner clarity and focus

  • Healing of old wounds and traumas

How Should I Prepare for a Session?

Wear loose comfortable clothing.  In order to ensure your comfort and best results for a session, it is recommended that you not eat a large meal or consume alcohol or other drugs (unless prescribed by a healthcare provider) prior to a session.

What Is a Polarity Session Like?

Polarity sessions are generally an hour and do not require you to disrobe, although you may do so if you desire.  While certain aspects of the work are generally performed in each session – such as head, neck shoulder and foot massage -- there is no set protocol for the work.  Every session is different because it depends entirely upon what you require for clearing and balancing in that moment.  Sessions might also include guided visualization. With polarity, the work will continue to affect you after the session.  It is helpful to drink water and give yourself time to honor the wisdom of your body.

Distance Healing

Energetic healing can also be done at a distance. The work focuses on clearing and balancing your energetic systems, such as your chakras, your aura, your subpersonalities and so forth. There are many energy systems that operate in and around the body.  Guided visualization and verbal work can also be part of a distance session via phone. You will experience a similar feeling of relaxation and well-being and the same benefits as with an in-person session.  The time required and price are also the same.
